Corporate retreats: 5 reasons to organize one for your employees

They have always been one of the best ways to build team spirit in a work group, and after a stop due to Covid, they are now slowly catching on in many companies. These are corporate retreats.

Basically, organized trips that bring together all the people who work in the same company, perhaps in different locations (and therefore cities) or mainly remotely. During the corporate retreat, a variety of activities are organized, relaxing moments are shared, and enjoyable time is spent all together.

But what specifically is a corporate retreat for? What benefits can it bring to the work in your company? And how is it organized?

5 reasons to organize a corporate retreat

The benefits that can come from a corporate retreat are many.

Here are 5 reasons why you should consider organizing one.

TEAM SPIRIT

The main reason companies organize a corporate retreat is to fortify team spirit. Like any team-building event, a corporate retreat involves a series of activities in which employees must work together to achieve a goal. Collaboration is the main driver of team spirit.

GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

Covid has brought so many people who previously shared an office to work remotely. Not to mention those who work in different locations or perhaps have always worked in smart working. All of these people, by necessity, do not know each other because they have never spent time together. Allowing them to get to know each other during a company retreat allows them to build better working relationships and establish greater confidence.

BRINGING OUT EVERYONE’S POTENTIAL

Different types of activities can be organized during a corporate retreat so that everyone has the opportunity to perform at their best!

From culinary team building to sports activities, each team member will have the opportunity to express themselves and give space to their talents, thus feeling part of the group and an essential element of a team. Those organizing the corporate retreat should therefore be able to provide engaging activities for everyone.

RELAXING

A corporate retreat is still a vacation so there should also be time to relax. Leaving employees free to spend time doing nothing is helpful both to let them recharge their batteries and to provide them with space where they can really feel like they are on vacation.

And when they return to work they will leave with much more energy!

BUILDING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMPANY

A happy employee is one who identifies with his company, shares its values, and feels empathy from management. A corporate retreat is a great way to make your employees feel that they are valued and appreciated for what they do every day.

Receiving rewards like this makes any employee more in touch with the company they work for.

How to organize a corporate retreat

Now that you know all the benefits that can come from a corporate retreat, here are some tips on how to organize one for your employees.

  • Duration. Corporate retreats usually last from two to four days at most.
  • Location. Choose a place that is easy for everyone to get to and where you will have the opportunity to do various activities on site. Also, better if it can offer full board as well.
  • Activities. A key aspect, of course, concerns the activities to be organized: you need to plan a clear schedule and agree with the venue you choose on what activities you want to organize.

Among the best castles in Europe

We are proud to share with you our silver win at the “Historical Castle Award 2022”. A very important recognition that saw us awarded among the most important castles in Europe.

Here are the reasons why they rewarded us.

Historicity

Our story is our main strength, to tell our story, we have to start from very far away.

From 1300 Gargonza’s castle was a fortified village in the hands of the “Ghibellines”, then at the end of 1700 it became a farm. The first news of Gargonza as a fortified village in the Val di Chiana dates back to 1150: a quote that mentioned a fortified castle along the road from Arezzo to Siena: which is the same castle where Dante Alighieri spent his exile.

Our apartments

The self-catering apartments of Gargonza’s castle show the genuine nature of Gargonza’s resident ancestors.

Each house is named after its original inhabitants. Therefore, today we have the farmer’s house, the seamstress Niccolina’s house, the gamekeeper Celso’s house, the Palle house, etc. Although the apartments have been renovated, we have kept the atmosphere rich in history and the original structure.

Catering

Our cuisine consists of authentic traditional Tuscan dishes made with simple and genuine ingredients personally chosen by chef Gabriele Polonia among those of the season.

The pasta is homemade, the Chianina meat is cooked on the grill, the wines (over 60 labels) are from the region, including Chianti Classico, Colli Senesi, Montalcino, Montepulciano, all stored in the cellar. Furthermore, since 2008 the restaurant has been certified by the Italian Gluten Free Association. We prepare gluten free bread and schiacciate and serve gluten free pasta for our celiac friends.

Arezzo: 10 things to see

Arezzo is one of the most famous Tuscan cities and, if you have decided to take a vacation in Tuscany, you should definitely include it in your itinerary.

Although less famous than Florence, Siena and Pisa, it is a city that has a truly unique charm. Entering the historic center feels like taking a trip back in time: alleys, buildings with exposed bricks, shops of the past and an atmosphere rich in history.

In this article we recommend 10 things you absolutely must see in Arezzo.

10 things to see in Arezzo in one day

One of the advantages of this city is that you can easily get around in 24 hours because the historic center is quite small and pleasant to visit on foot.
So here are 10 things to see in Arezzo in one day, from morning to evening.

MAIN SQUARE “PIAZZA GRANDE”

The nerve center of the city, Piazza Grande is one of the first things to see in Arezzo. Slightly inclined, it is one of the most important architectural complexes in Italy, where Vasari’s Palazzo delle Logge, Palazzo Casatorre dei Tofani and Palazzo Lappoli with the wooden gallery meet. On the left, you can see the splendid Pieve di Santa Maria with its apse.
The characteristic event Giostra del Saracino is held in this square.

THE CATHEDRAL OF AREZZO

If you have decided to visit Arezzo in one day, you cannot miss the Duomo. Built on the site of the ancient Acropolis, it is the main church of the Arezzo inhabitants and it is in a dominant position, so that the spire of its tower can be seen for kilometers from the surrounding countryside.
The bell tower has been rebuilt 3 times over the centuries. While the facade was rebuilt in the twentieth century, the interiors are the original ones, built between 1278 and 1500.

BASILICA OF SAN FRANCESCO

If you are an art lover and are wondering what to do in Arezzo, include a visit to the Basilica of San Francesco in your itinerary. In fact, this small stone and brick church houses one of the masterpieces of Italian art, The Legend of the True Cross by Piero Della Francesca, an incredible cycle of frescoes that decorate the interior of the Basilica.

BASILICA OF SAN DOMENICA IN AREZZO

Another attraction for art lovers is the Basilica of San Domenico, located in the highest part of Arezzo and which houses the completely restored Crucifix by Cimabue. About 3 meters high, it is the first work attributed to Cimabue and deserves a stop among the things to visit in Arezzo.

THE LAWN “PRATO”

What to do in Arezzo apart from visiting the most important city monuments? Surely you can give yourself a break in the greenery of the most important park in the city, Il Prato. A real green lung of the city, it is the favorite destination of Arezzo locals to spend some time outdoors, especially on beautiful spring days.
Inside the park, you will find a statue of Petrarch, which has its origins in Arezzo.

VASARI’S HOUSE MUSEUM IN AREZZO

Arezzo is not only the birthplace of Petrarch but also of the artist Giorgio Vasari. Painter, architect and art historian, he lived for some time in a three-storey building that he personally decorated. Today it has become a museum, to be visited in Arezzo not only for what it houses (paintings, sculptures and other works) but also for the decoration of the internal rooms and for the splendid hanging garden.

PETRARCH’S HOUSE IN AREZZO

Francesco Petrarca was born in a house in the center of Arezzo in 1304 and lived here for many years. The house is small and, over time, has undergone numerous changes of intended use and modifications, but it is worth visiting it because it is still a building of high historical and cultural value and today houses the Petrarca Academy of Letters, Arts and Science.

ROMAN AMPHITHEATER OF AREZZO

In Arezzo, what to see from the Roman era? Without any doubt, the Roman Amphitheater. his structure once hosted about 13,000 people, but what you will see today is only the skeleton of what it once was, because it has undergone a slow and progressive demolition.
In any case, it remains a very impressive monument to see.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

What to see in Arezzo with children? The Archaeological Museum is one of the favorite stops for families because it houses an impressive collection of ceramics and glass objects from the Etruscan and Roman times, which manage to enchant and surprise the youngest visitors.
The Museum is housed inside the former Monastery of San Bernardo, therefore in a very charming location.

PRIORY PALACE

The Palazzo dei Priori is a typical example of medieval architecture. With its towers and battlements, it is a splendid palace built in the fourteenth century, where the Municipality is now based. Inside there is a large courtyard with a beautiful loggia and it is possible to visit the palace: it houses some works of art created by Arezzo masters from different eras.

Wedding in Tuscany: a castle for a dream ceremony

The best day of your life deserves a special location.

Between villas, resorts and historic buildings, have you ever thought of celebrating your wedding in a castle in Tuscany?

The magical and timeless atmosphere of an authentic medieval castle will make you feel like the protagonists of a beautiful fairy tale. But how to choose the right location for your wedding in Tuscany? Not all castles offer the same comforts and the same suggestive atmosphere.

Here are our tips for you.

Castles for weddings in Tuscany: how to choose?

AUTHENTIC ATMOSPHERE

Getting married in a castle is the dream of many couples, because it is a location that offers a magical and solemn atmosphere, princely and regal, just as if you were in a fairy tale from another time.
However, it is important that the castle in Tuscany you choose for your wedding has been preserved in respect of its authentic structure. The massive stone walls, the niches, the wooden stairs are precious details, necessary to have an authentic and fairy-tale atmosphere. Any castle in Tuscany that has been modernized and restored without taking care of the authenticity of its structure will never offer the same magical atmosphere.

SPACES AND CAPACITIES

Celebrating your wedding in a castle in Tuscany is certainly a unique experience, but it is also important to evaluate the practicality of the solutions offered. It is useless to choose a castle that is a small party favor if you are planning to host two hundred people!
Therefore, carefully evaluate the available spaces in a structure and, above all, get informed about its maximum capacity to see if it is in line with your list of guests.
Furthermore, if you want some guests to stay for the night, you will have to choose a castle in Tuscany for weddings that also offers the possibility of booking rooms.

SERVICES AND CATERING

Everything has to be perfect for your wedding, so it’s important to be informed about the additional services offered by the castle. Where will the aperitif be served? And how will the buffet be organized? What about entertainment? Every detail must be carefully planned.
And don’t forget that catering is a key aspect of any wedding. Before choosing the castle in Tuscany that will frame your most beautiful day, also make sure that the catering service they offer is in line with what you are looking for. Not everyone is able to offer a menu for many people, but opting for external catering is certainly more difficult and less practical.

The castle of Gargonza for your wedding in Tuscany

The Castello di Gargonza is the ideal location for a fairy-tale wedding in Tuscany. It is located in a strategic position, a few kilometers from the city of Arezzo, between Chianti and Val di Chiana, immersed in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

The Castle has been maintained in perfect condition and every detail has been preserved with great care, to keep its medieval history and atmosphere intact.

It has numerous rooms and apartments to welcome your guests with comfort and catering is served by La Torre di Gargonza Restaurant, which allows you to find the perfect menu for any style and preference. And you can take advantage of the splendid outdoor green spaces for your ceremony (both civil and religious), for the aperitif and/or the buffet.
