YOUR WEDDING IN TUSCANY

IN A historic home rich in authenticity

Celebrate your wedding and organize the reception in a historic home full of authenticity.
“GARGONZA, located in the heart of Tuscan hills, is a thirteen-century fortified medieval village reminescent of the toy forts that children enjoy building on the floor, spending hours moving around the tower or the well, enclosing houses inside a thick wall which no enemy can break through…”

From psychanalyse de la maison – Olivier Marc

Beyond the history and authenticity of this historic residence, where else can you find a venue that guarantees that the ceremony, aperitif, dinner, and—most importantly—accommodation are all in the same place? The Castello di Gargonza offers exactly this: everything within a single setting. The ceremony location, restaurant, and guest rooms are all close together.

With a total of 100 beds, all guests are able to stay together within the borgo and continue celebrating the day after the wedding—relaxing by the pool or enjoying group activities such as yoga, e-biking, or wine tasting.

THE CEREMONY

Symbolic or religious and location for weddings in Tuscany

When choosing a wedding venue, a common question is: can we actually get married there? And if so, can it be a civil, religious, or only a symbolic ceremony?

At Gargonza, wedding ceremonies can be held as symbolic or religious services in the Parish Church of Saints Tiburzio and Susanna. For religious weddings, at least one of the spouses must be Catholic (or Anglican for Anglican ceremonies). To obtain authorization, baptism, communion, and confirmation certificates must be submitted to the diocesan office in Arezzo.

Gargonza has also beautiful gardens overlooking the forest and the Val di Chiana. In Gargonza the common areas and gardens are authorized by the local town hall of Monte San Savino to be legal destination for civil wedding, also for foreigner couples. In this case, the required documentation must be submitted to the Italian consular offices in the couple’s home country in order to obtain the necessary clearance, which must then be presented to the Municipality of Monte San Savino.

For symbolic ceremonies, you may choose one of the village gardens or the Frantoio Hall. For civil weddings, options include the Renaissance cloister or the garden in front of the historic town hall of Monte San Savino, located just 6 km from Gargonza.

THE BANQUET

Catering and Restaurant - from welcome dinner to wedding feast and beyond

At Castello di Gargonza, the wedding dinner as well as welcome dinners are managed directly by the in-house restaurant, La Torre di Gargonza.

The cuisine reflects Tuscan tradition, featuring:

  • Homemade fresh pasta
  • Traditional meat-based dishes
  • Local cold cuts and cheeses
  • Buffet-style aperitifs with Tuscan finger food

The wedding dinner typically includes a fresh pasta course followed by a traditional Tuscan main dish with seasonal vegetables. Cocktails can be held in the Limonaia garden or on the lawn by the swimming pool, all within walking distance, no need for transportation after the ceremony.

Dinner is usually served in the panoramic restaurant hall or outdoors, under romantic string lights in the courtyard. Menus can be customized according to your preferences, and special dietary requirements are fully accommodated.

To create a true “Italian-style” wedding, a welcome dinner is often organized the evening before, featuring rustic Tuscan buffets, pizza ovens, checkered tablecloths, soft lighting, and traditional folk music.

The day after the wedding, guests can gather again for a relaxed poolside lunch, perhaps with a gelato cart or even gelato served from a vintage Fiat 500.

OVERNIGHT STAY

Gargonza's apartments, rooms and suites

All accommodations are located within the borgo itself and include a variety of options, from classic, superior rooms and suites to multi-room apartments suitable for families.

For the newlyweds, exclusive options include:

  • The Tower Suite (ground floor of the tower).
  • The Tower Room (third floor), featuring a private terrace.

Breakfast is served in the ancient olive mill (Frantoio) within the village, while a small shop at the entrance also functions as a bar and aperitif spot in the afternoon and evening.

On the wedding day, while the bride is getting ready, guests can enjoy a light lunch under the poolside pergola or explore nearby Tuscan cities such as Siena and Arezzo.

Gargonza offers up to 100 beds across its suites, including family apartments with multiple bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. In addition to the consecrated church (with approximately 80 seats), the borgo offers gardens for symbolic or civil ceremonies, as well as indoor options such as the Frantoio Hall in case of bad weather.

After the ceremony, the aperitif is served in one of the gardens or in the central square of the village. In case of rain, elegant indoor lounges are available.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about weddings at Castello di Gargonza.

Certainly, Castello di Gargonza offers within a single structure the elements that must be close, and in particular the place for the celebration of the ceremony, the restaurant, and the rooms. In Gargonza, all this is inside the village or in the immediate vicinity. We have a total of 100 beds and this is an advantage for having all the guests of the village together even the day after the wedding where everyone can thus meet at the pool to spend time together or do group activities such as yoga, e-bike, or wine tasting.

Inside the village gardens or at the pool garden, it is possible to organize a dinner with a rustic Tuscan buffet or have a buffet with the pizza oven. The informal setup with classic checkered tablecloths, typical of the squares of old villages, and the small lights above the tables create the atmosphere of a true Italian party, perhaps completed with a trio of traditional folk music.

Gargonza offers up to 100 beds within its suites. Some are 2/3 beds and others are family suites with 2/3/4 bedrooms per apartment with a private en suite bathroom. Gargonza, in addition to offering a consecrated church for religious weddings with about 80 seats, also has gardens inside it for symbolic or civil ceremonies, as it is also a municipal house. We also have internal options in case of rain in our ancient Olive Press hall (Salone del Frantoio). After the ceremony, an aperitif is organized in one of our gardens or in the main square of the village. In case of bad weather, the lounges inside the village can be used.

We collaborate with external wedding planners but we can also offer an internal planning service that takes care of the organization of the entire wedding, coordinating both the catering part with our internal Restaurant and the coordination of the external services necessary for the wedding.

Gargonza offers a typical Tuscan menu with homemade fresh pasta and typical meat dishes. For the aperitif, we can organize various styles of buffet with Tuscan finger food and trays of local cold cuts and cheeses.

The historical and landscape setting of Gargonza is already an advantage for those who get married in the Castle. However, some external suppliers are necessary. The first and most important is linked to the party and the setup of the dinner and therefore a service for lights and music is necessary for the day of the wedding and partly also for the arrival dinner. Another important supplier is flowers and floral and candle setups, for the arrival dinner, for the ceremony, and for the wedding aperitif and dinner. The third important supplier is the musicians for the ceremony and for the wedding party. Here you can choose an unplugged trio for the ceremony and for the aperitif and then the DJ accompanied by a wind or percussion instrumentalist for the party. It is possible to precede the DJ with a live performance. The fourth important supplier is the photographer and videographer to seal the various moments of a wedding weekend and thus make this beautiful memory present over time. A fifth necessary supplier is the MUA for hair and makeup. A sixth important supplier is linked to the wedding graphics such as invitations, the wedding program, menus, the tableau de mariage, and place cards. These are the fundamental suppliers. To these, you can then add suppliers for the photobooth, caricaturists, and ice cream carts. Not least is the wedding content creator who can capture the most significant moments of the party and share them in real-time.

Our packages for a buyout start from 65 people and the cost for 3 nights is € 45,000.00 for 65 people with breakfast using 33 double rooms. Included in the package are the garden for the ceremony, spaces for changing, the Tower with the room and the tower suite on the ground floor, and exclusive use of the restaurant for the wedding dinner. The cost for a wedding dinner is € 180.00 per person with aperitif and alcohol included, full dinner, and use of spaces. Not included are the open bar, the wedding cake, and the wines during dinner. An arrival dinner instead starts from € 80.00 per person inclusive of wines (1 bottle every 3 people).

Catholic weddings, including Anglican, can be celebrated in the Parish Church (Pieve) of SS. Tiburzio and Susanna in Gargonza but at least one of the two spouses must be of the Catholic religion. To have the authorization (nulla osta), it is necessary to present the certificate of baptism, communion, and confirmation at the bishop’s chancellery of Arezzo.

Gargonza is also a Municipal House and it is possible to celebrate the civil rite at Gargonza even for foreigners. In this case, they must present the necessary documentation at the Italian consular offices of their country in order to obtain the nulla osta to be presented to the Municipality of Monte San Savino, which is the municipality Gargonza belongs to. For the symbolic rite or Protestant rite with civil effects, there are no problems in the private spaces of the village.

The day after the wedding, lunches can be organized at the pool with an ice cream cart. The menus can be in an informal style with pizza or a BBQ. The day before the wedding, an arrival dinner is always organized in one of our gardens with a rustic Tuscan menu or with a pizza night with a pizza oven or a BBQ.
