“Le Case di Gargonza” are named after their ancient inhabitants: Boccio, Niccolina, Pietrino and, with them, many other wonderful characters.
The houses reflect the authenticity of the people of Gargonza who lived there, linking their name to them; enclosed in the ancient walls, the houses have the imprint of peasant life that prudent restorations have preserved. If you find steep wooden stairs or rooms dug into the stone, small windows overlooking the woods or blackened fireplaces, know that all this is the added value of our history.

Casa della “Niccolina”, Casa del Fattore, Casa Canapino or Casa Palle are some of the names or nicknames to which these houses are linked for having had these wonderful characters as inhabitants. Their stories are well present in our memories thanks to the oral testimony work of Count Roberto Guicciardini; in fact, after the war the inhabitants of Gargonza, in search of a better life, and no longer able to support themselves with hill agriculture, had to leave Gargonza. Right at the end of this exodus that began in the 1930s and continued inexorably until the 1960s, Count Roberto, with the last inhabitants of the village, undertook this work of restructuring the village to bring it towards a new tourist-receptive destination starting from the 1970s of the last century.
The restoration has preserved its structure and atmosphere and enriched them with today’s comforts for a holiday to rediscover the historical authenticity of a small Tuscan village. It is also thanks to him that today you can live History inside one of the suites inside the village.
