The Swimming Pool at Castello di Gargonza

In full respect of Gargonza’s history and landscape, the new swimming pool project follows the ancient terraces once used for agriculture.

Integration with the Landscape

The pool has been designed as an integral part of the garden.

• Grassy tiers gently shape the terrain, guiding the eye toward the panoramic view.
• Mediterranean flowerbeds featuring lavender, perennials, and ornamental grasses create movement and seasonal continuity.
• Newly planted trees ensure the pool entrance remains secluded and exclusive for the village guests.
• A shaded pergola provides a space for rest and contemplation. The result is a space that does not impose itself but reveals itself progressively.

Elegance and Functionality

The pool, featuring wide access via a grand staircase, has a depth of 1.40m. It is designed to ensure comfort and usability while maintaining balanced proportions within the architectural context. The interior is lined with stoneware, while the solarium is crafted from local Rapolano travertine stone.

The service facilities — changing rooms and showers — have been renovated within the former quarters of the farm animals. The pergola has been restored, offering a perfect spot to sit for a snack or a crisp glass of wine while gazing at the woodlands and the landscape overlooking the Val di Chiana.
