It is a popular name for places in central Italy and literally means mild spring. It is referred to a water spring which is located just below the house where farmers would collect water and wash clothes. There is still a spring and a washing area made with stones.
On top of the roof you can see two smaller towers which were probably used for defensive purpose as the house is just along the walls facing te valley.
